Another Cartic Ramp mystery is that of the identity of a ramp which was located at South Dock, Newport in c1972. This can be seen in an aerial photograph held in the National Museum of Wales collection of Terence Soames (Cardiff) Ltd. The aerial photograph, taken in 1972 of the South Dock at Newport. Alongside the timber storage was a section used at the time for car exports. These had started in 1971 initially from Gosford Creen and later from Oxford and Dagenham.
The pictured ramp looks rather like a MAT Transauto Cartic Ramps built on a SR underframe.
Please do make contact with Peter Hall if you have any information, sightings or photographs of this ramp.
