Delivered direct to Monsanto Chemicals, Newport, August 1970 where it retained BR green livery. By the end of March 1971it had moved to Coed Cae Colliery having had a blue livery applied. It is thus presumed D2244 visited A. R. Adams & Son Old Dock Works between the two hires where it was painted.
