Carriage Conundrums - top page

Fourteen LMSR carriages were converted to Exhibition Vans by BR and all these are listed for completeness even though four had been condemned before 1972. In addition it is appropriate to include the two Exhibition Vans converted from Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway carriages as these survived into the 1970's.

Converted from Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway Corridor Brake Thirds. Together with GWR Siphon G W1315W later DB975152 and GWR Siphon G W2771W later DB975153 these formed part of an exhibition train that was running around in the late 1960's. In the early 1970's the two Siphon G and M6533M later DB975154 formed an exhibition train promoting the West Coast Main Line Electrification north from Weaver Junction.

38742 1973 Converted from TO 27234. Preserved at Strathspey Railway c1973. Overhauled at Derby Litchurch Lane Works prior to movement to Aviemore.
