Cherwell Valley 'Cromptons' prior to May 1982

The majority of appearances during this era were on relief trains resourced by the Southern Region, often returning their ecs. Of particular note was the substitution of 33111+ 4 TC's 420+425 for a hauled set on the 7th July 1979, the TC's leading on the outward journey through the Cherwell Valley.
