First allocated to Corkerhill in October 1960. Transferred to Polmadie in March 1962. Transferred to Motherwell in August 1962. Transferred to Inverness in November 1962. Transferred to Perth in January 1964. Transferred to Dundee in November 1965. Transferred to Ayr in March 1967. Transferred to Grangemouth in September 1967. Transferred to Dundee in July 1972. From January 1973 it was officially based at Aberdeen Ferryhill before returning to Dundee at the end of the year. In reality it would appear from observations submitted that it was only at Aberdeen Ferryhill for a few months at the beginning of the year covering for D2423 whilst that was at St. Rollox Works. In the mid 1970's seven Class 06 were distributed between Aberdeen Ferryhill, Dundee and Dunfermline Townhill. Aberdeen Ferryhill was allocated one for use in the Docks. Dunfermline Townhill was allocated four, two at Kirkcaldy, one at Markinch and one at the depot. Dundee was allocated two, one for use in the Harbour and one spare. The spare locomotive at Dundee appears to have given cover if needed for Aberdeen Ferryhill and Dunfermline Townhill locomotives being unavailable. 06010 was withdrawn in November 1975 being replaced at Dundee by 06004.
