Class 06 observations in the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s and 1980s - top page
First allocated to Kittybrewster in February 1959. Transferred to Aberdeen Ferryhill in September 1967. Transferred to Eastfield in January 1969. Transferred to Dunfermline Townhill in November 1974, possibly as a consequence of the requirement for a locomotive to be outstabled at Gourock ceasing. In February 1975 it transferred to Hamilton in February 1975, . It moved onto to Dundee in June 1975 were it replaced 06010. Although it is recorded as being allocated to Dundee until June 1977, when it was transferred to Dunfermline Townhill, the reality appears from sightings submitted that it had been transferred much earlier, probably early in 1976, although most likely this was officially recorded as a loan to cover for the absence of 06007. In early 1976 06007 moved from Dunfermline Townhill to Polmadie, presumably for attention in the heavy repair facility, but never returned. Thus 06004 was covering for its absence. In June 1977 06007 was officially put in store at Polmadie and withdrawn soon after. This coincides with the official transfer of 06004 to Dunfermline Townhill with it being replaced at Dundee by 06006 from Aberdeen. 06004 was withdrawn at Dunfermline Townhill in March 1979 when it was replaced by 06003. In the mid 1970's seven Class 06 were distributed between Aberdeen Ferryhill, Dundee and Dunfermline Townhill. Aberdeen Ferryhill was allocated one for use in the Docks. Dunfermline Townhill was allocated four, two at Kirkcaldy, one at Markinch and one at the depot. Dundee was allocated two, one for use in the Harbour and one spare. The spare locomotive at Dundee appears to have given cover if needed for Aberdeen Ferryhill and Dunfermline Townhill locomotives being unavailable.
