Q17.06. L&YR Locomotive Works Site Proposals. Prior to building their locomotive works at Horwich, near Bolton, Lancashire, it appears the L&YR may have looked at a site in the Goole/Snaith/Hensall area in today’s East Riding of Yorkshire. This clearly did not happen, but can any member provide any details? Did the L&YR consider this, and if so what led to its cancellation? Was any land actually bought at the time? (S.R.Batty: 11804)
